Carnival Lights up Boone County Fair

Prize goats, pageants, tractor pulls and country cured ham competitions are all popular events at the Boone County Fair. One of the more popular evenings at the fair is wristband night. It's an evening when families, lovers and friends can get together for an inexpensive evening of adrenalin, fair games and good family fun.

After a night of gowns, talents and questions, Hallsville resident, Rashall Westhoelter was crowned queen at the 2009 Boone County Fair Royalty Competition. This was Westhoelter's third year competing, and first year being in the top four.

Melissa Williamson, a 14 year-old from Hallsville, gains confidence and experience by riding horses. She spent the entire weekend taking care of horses and competing at the 63rd annual Boone County Fair Society Horse Show.

Big River Boat Float 2009

More that 100 people participated in the Big Canoe Float on the Missouri River on Saturday. The event was sponsored by the Missouri River Communities Network. The participants canoed 9.5 miles and were able to stop at various points during the trip for activities and lectures that explained more about the history and ecology of the region.
