Behind The Curtain

Blurb Portfolio

Recently I've been finishing up a bunch of projects, and working a whole lot on my portfolio! I created it with BooksSmart, a really great book designing software from Blurb. If you want to check it out, you can go to my portfolio on blurb. I don't think it allows you to look at all the pages, but it lets your preview 10 or so. I would appreciate some help! The first blank pages are open so that I can insert a handwritten cover letter in the beginning. It will be made with my own greeting cards, and placed with those cool corner inserts. My website is also finally off the ground and running! I would really appreciate comments on both of my projects.

Someday he's going to cut my neck while I sleep

Please don't kill me tonight,
Mama Chelsea

Who says cats can't fly?

Please don't call the ASPCA. We treat them pretty well usually...
This is for biting John's toes and locking yourself in the cupboards.

Oh poor Presley.

I love you Presley,

A 'cool' job

Sometimes I get cool assignments. A few weeks ago I got a pretty bad ass one. I got to take photographs of a ice sculptor! Awesome? Yeah... I know! Check it out.

I grew up in a small farm in Minnesota surrounded by corn, the nicest people you could ever meet, and farm animals. I miss the horses the most! It was great to have an assignment that included interacting with them. I loved petting this horses' velvet nose and hugging his strong neck! Maybe I got too close to my subject.... I'm not sure that's possible with a horse.

Now for some outtakes...

Dear Vox,

Veterans Day

Veterans day was truly beautiful, Mizzou had a morning parade complete with veterans, old school jeeps and herds of bagpipes. Only.... I left my camera at home. Crap. That NEVER happens. Somedays I have my lumix slung around my chest and ever actually take a picture, but other days, I see a beautiful light, a perfect moment, reach for my camera and... it's not there. That was my veterans day. Ohhh well. So please, picture a herd of bagpipers standing in perfect morning rim light. Yes. Spectacular.

Things happen... to you, Veterans Day, I dedicate this photograph taken when Obama came to Columbia on October 30, 2008. Even though you only have a 46% approval rating... I think you're doing a pretty swell job. Keep it up, you'll eventually be allowed to do what you want.

A Closer Look

Rainy Fall Days

Lately I have been so busy that I've only been able to look at the beautiful colors through the small windows at school. I was so lucky to have a few moments before the end of the day to touch and smell the amazing reds, yellows and greens.
